A Massachusetts-based OEM came to AEC Engineering for help redesigning the control panels of their product line to an Allen-Bradley standard. They wanted to establish a standard across all their products that would not only help with production efficiency, but also concentrate their technical expertise on one platform, which would help with training new staff. This was also an opportunity to re-engineer the panels and make some changes that had been pending for quite a while. AEC’s John Kraus took the lead on redesigning the panel, selecting components, and preparing a complete CAD drawing package for the customer. AEC’s Jon Estes was responsible for converting the customer’s existing program(s) to Allen-Bradley using Rockwell’s Studio 5000 and re-creating the HMIs with Factory Talk (Machine Edition). Small nuances between vendor software always makes these projects run longer than expected as the details need to be painstakingly researched and vetted. The first of the new control panels has left the shop and we’re now at work on their second product. If we can help you with any Allen-Bradley (or Schneider, Siemens, etc.) programming, feel free to give us a call.
